Halftime

We've reached the second half of the season so far and I can personally say I'm pretty disappointed, Madrid are 3rd in la liga at the moment and are only 5 points (1 win 2 draws) behind Barcelona and athletico Madrid. Surely Real Madrid will recover from this poor run of form and catch up to the two teams who are leading them. They play Barcelona again in March and play Madrid in February, and in both of these tense games fortunately they're both at home. Real Madrid have a good record at home with only 2 losses in the last 39 games at the Bernabeu stadium, and will triumph as usual in their home. At the moment Ronaldo has 18 goals in the league, with Diego costa of athletico Madrid right behind him with 16, Lionel messi's been injured for some time, and has only 8 goals, he may catch up to Ronaldo to win the golden boot that he won last year but he must try hard with Ronaldo in his unstoppable form. 

Real Madrid in the World Cup

When you play for Real Madrid cf it's pretty usual you're going to be called up for the World Cup, the entire starting eleven for Real Madrid is going to atten the World Cup, these players are Casillas, Sergio Ramos , Pepe, arbeloa, Marcelo, Sami khedira, Xabi Alonso, Modric, Ronaldo, Di Maria, and Karim Benzema are all attending the World Cup for their respected national squads. In my opinion, this is a true honour for Real Madrid that they are well represented in the World Cup. France, who have two Madrid players (Karim and Varane) are in a nice group in the world with Ecuador, Honduras and Switzerland, this is an easy group for France and they will Forsure go through the last 16 of the completion. Spain have 4 Real Madrid players (Casillas, Ramos, arbeloa, Xabi Alonso) they have a tough group with the last work cup finalist Netherlands but Spain will become the strongest and go through. Germany have one player Sami khedira but unfortunately he has torn his Acl. Portugal have 3 players, Pepe, Coentroa and the superstar himself, Cristiano Ronaldo. Portugal are in "the group of death" with Germany, Ghana and USA, but they will attack hard and get through alongside Germany. The renaming players are Di Maria for Argentina they have an easy group and will get through. Luka Modric for Croatia have a group shared with Brazil who has Marcelo, these two teams will go through and are the most favorited to go through. In conclusion, I myself think they will represent their club well in the World Cup, because many of these teams depend on these players because of their importance on the pitch, Germany and Portugal are my favourites to win, because they've been playing well.

Will Real Madrid get their 10th champions league title?

So we've finally reached the finale of the group stages, there is 8 groups with 4 teams in each of them, every team plays every team in the group twice, home and away. I can gladly say that even though Madrid was in a group where all three other teams were country champions, they still came out on top undefeated. Every first place team plays a second place team, they can be from the same group but it all depends actually on the draw which will be this Monday, I personally think Madrid will win against those teams, because although they came out in second place there not as good as Madrid. The teams that got second place are Arsenal, Zenit St.Petersburg, real sociedad and Mancheter city. Arsenal can be a tough match because of their impact this year on England, with the arrival of the Real Madrid playmaker Özil, Arsenal are playing much better. When it comes to Zenit, Zenit don't really have an impact on the champions league, every single year IF they make the group stage they get knocked out, because they only depend on their star player Hulk. Real sociedad on the other hand is from Spain too, they know how Real Madrid plays and how they think, they clinched a fourth place spot in the league and showed a terrific performance in their group stage. Manchester city also is from England last year they didn't even qualify for the group stage and they were in real marries group stage too! They didn't even win one game and isn't a threat in my opinion. So will Real Madrid get their tenth? I really hope they do because I personally think they are the best team in the world at the moment.

Ballon d'or controversy

Since 2008, an award was created by the FIFA board called the ballon d'or, today it is an award that all footballers around the world wish to hold one day and win, unfortunately it's not that easy, although I think it was a good idea to create an individual award like this I really think it is rigged. When the first award was broadcasted, it was superstar Christianity Ronaldo who won the award, I think he deserved it because he was the top scorer of the Barclays premier league (in England) and was the top scorer of the champions league, Manchester united, Ronaldo's team at the time won both the league and champions league thanks to the Portuguese international. The following year, Lionel messi the Barcelona superstar won the ballon d'or, for the same reasons cristiano won it back in 2008, it was well deserved. But in 2010 Lionel messi won it another time, why? The world will never know, because the people were really sure that Wesley sneidjer the inter Milan superstar was going to win it for sure because of his team winning all trophies in the same year. In 2011 another robbery took place where Lionel messi, won the award again! It was a robbery because Ronaldo was the top scorer of the world, top scorer of the league and won the league but only made it to the semi final in the champions league. After the third time messi won the award the people were getting pretty furious because of the lack of explanation. Then in 2012 the ballon d'or became a voted award, every captain from every national team in the world gets three votes for who they think will win the ballon d'or and for the fourth time in a row Lionel messi once again won the award. When messi won the award and the players votes came out to the media, many players said that their votes had been changed and that those votes were not who they voted for... Currently Ronaldo is the top scorer of the champions league and of the league itself because if messi's injury, currently Ronaldo has 70 goals in 2913 and I am very looking forward to the award ceremony in January in Munich to see if Ronaldo will once again get the trophy he we'll deserves. 

My thoughts on Real madrid

We have almost reached the half of the season up to date (Nov 22 2013) and I can happily say that i am somewhat happy for Real madrid at the moment. In La liga there is 20 teams, every team play against each other twice, one at home one away, and the total amount of matches at the end of the season is 38 games. Currently, we have played 13 games out of 38, Real Madrid are currently 3rd place in La liga, with Barcelona leading and Athletico Madrid right behind them. About two weeks ago, Gareth bale the Tottenham hotspur transfer of the year (140 million dollars) came back. He played aproximately 30 minutes in the game against the italian giants Juventus, where they won and Gareth had some opportunities and played nicely in my opinion. Where Gareth did badly though was when he played against Barcelona, in the world waited Classico. I did not see Gareth do anything in the entire game, and he played the whole 90 minutes, Real madrid lost the game 2-1 unfortunately, it was an upset for me because i was really expecting another score. The game ended badly not only for the disappearing act of Gareth Bale but for a bad managerial lineup by the manager Carlo Ancelotti. Many media reports suggest that Carlo was afraid of the result, and so do I really because for the first time in my entire life, a manager played 6 defenders together.. He played 4 centre backs, (normally managers play 2) and had 2 full backs which did nothing thurought the game, Carvahal the right back did a great job defending Neymar, but only after Neymar scored on him. Alexis Sanchez scored an amazing goal for Barcelona, i cant even say anything except the fact that it was poor defending. He literally chipped the ball over the defender and the goalkeeper to slot it in. Currently Ronaldo is the top scorer of not only Real Madrid but also for Europe, he currently is the leader in goals with 70 in 2013, and 21 so far in the season (19) matches played and I can gladly say that I am very happy with his performance and am honoured to call myself a madridista

La décima

For many years, (10 years) Real Madrid have been struggling to win La décima, or the tenth.Their last champions league triumph was back in 2002 where Zidane hit the famous volley to win the game. From 2003-2006 Real Madrid appeared in the finals and the semi finals. After the departure of Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo (Brazil) and many other Real Madrid legends, Real Madrid had a very tough time trying to get to the round of 16 by winning the group stages. But when the arrival of the big money players came in 2008-2009 Real Madrid were back on track to win the tenth champions league they have been dreaming to get. Real Madrid base all of their managers and players they bring to the club on Champions league experience or if they are good enough to be in the Champions league. In 2008 Real Madrid failed to do good in the champions cup by a terrifying Liverpool 4-0 defeat. Ironically, Real Madrid signed Cristiano Ronaldo who won the most goals scored and player of the competition of the champions cup, and in 2009 Real Madrid lost against the french team Olympic Lyonais 2-1, Lyon eventually made it to the semi final, but lost against a strong Bayer Munich. In 2010 all of it changed when Real Madrid brought in play makers and defenders hoping to win the champions league,they won against Lyon 4-1 to get the revenge they wanted and beat Tottenham Hotspurs 5-0 but lost 3-1 against Barcelona in the semi final. This not only brought discomfort to losing in the champions league another year in a row, but to lose against their rivals FC Barcelona, Real Madrid were not too happy about it. In the year 2011-2012 campaign, Real Madrid had easy knockout rounds, they faced CSKA Moscow of Russia, APOEL of Greece, when they made it to the semi-final they faced the German giants Bayern Munich, after losing 2-1 in the first leg, Real Madrid had a 2-0 lead in the second leg to win the game but unfortunately suffered from a last minute goal, the game went to penalties where Real Madrid lost 3-1. Bayern eventually lost against Chelsea in the final. In the 2012-2013 champions league, Real Madrid were drawn in the group of death, they were drawn with Borussia Dortmund the number one team in Germany, Manchester City the number one team in England and lastly Ajax the number one team in Holland, Real Madrid finished second, moving onto the knockout rounds. When they made it to the knockout rounds, they played Manchester United winning 3-2, they played Galatasaray the Turkish champions, and in the semi final played against Borussia Dortmund again. They lost the first leg in Germany 4-1 all coming from the same Dortmund player, Robert Lewandowski. When the second leg came, the stadium was absolutely full, Real Madrid were controlling the match the entire game but failed to score 3 goals to win the game, they scored 2 goals all coming in the last ten minutes of the game, and after a unpleasant Dortmund acting disrespectful and wasting time Real madrid lost the game.

Currently Real Madrid are in the group of death, with the Italian champions Juventus, the Turkish champions Galatasaray and the Denmark champions Copenhagen. They are on top of the table with 9 points (3 wins) and beat Galatasaray 6-1, Copenhagen 4-0 and Juventus 2-1. Ronaldo is currently the top scorer with 7 goals in 3 matches.

El Clásico

El Clásico is the name given to any football matches between Real Madrid and their rivals Barcelona, the rivalry comes about between Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two largest cities in Spain, and the two clubs are among the richest and most successful football teams around the world. Currently Real Madrid has more wins then Barcelona when it comes to El Clásico  (90 to 86). Along with Atletico Bilbao, these are the only 3 teams in Spain to never be relegated (bottom 3). These teams are sometimes identified with opposing political problems, with Real Madrid representing Spanish nationalism and Barcelona representing Catalanism, this rivalry is regarded as one of the biggest rivalries in world football. During the last 3 decades the rivalry was intensified when the Pasillo came along, the pasillo consists of that when one team wins the league and there are some games left for the team, the opposing team must perform a guard of honor for the league winners, this has been done 3 times between Real Madrid and Barcelona, the last Pasillo was in 2008, and Barcelona performed it for Real Madrid.

The two teams met again in the 2002 Champions League semi final, with Real Madrid winning the first leg 2-0 and drawing the second leg 1-1, those matches dubbed by the Spanish media as "the match of the century" was watched more then 500 million people. In the El Clásico  held on November 2005, Barcelona played at Madrid and won the game 3-0 the star of the team was Ronaldinho, who became the second player after Diego Maradona to receive a standing ovation at the Madrid Stadium the Santiago Bernabeu.

In 2011 the rivalry was getting more and more intense, because of the Copa Del Reyfinal coming up against Barcelona and the champions league semi final against Barcelona as well, that means that the both teams were scheduled to face each other 4 times in 18 days, which caused a lot of conflict in the Spanish national team, containing 4 Real Madrid players and 5 Barcelona players, Vincente Del Bosque, the Spanish national team manager was afraid that this would cause friction between the national side.

On 7 October, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score in 6 consecutive Clásicos, Ronaldos run began in the 2011-2012 Copa Del Rey and is still going on after having scored against Barcelona at the Camp Nou the Catalonia Stadium.


To conclude i think that the el classico is probably the best rivalry in the sports world, its a battle between the two best players in the world, (Ronaldo and Messi), its a battle between the two best clubs in the world, and its a battle between political diassagreements. Every time the classico is on TV I jump to go watch it with all of my soccer friends and we have a good time because of how the tension is on the field, and the highlights are too fun to rewatch again and relive that magnificent moment.
